Rail Rugby Tournament 2016

Thursday 2nd June, Rugby

On 2nd Thursday June, Fission Recruitment travelled across to Rugby to represent the company within a touch 7’s rugby tournament. The tournament itself was organised on behalf of Railway Children and Network Rail and sponsored by EBS electrocution and Volker Rail.

The event took place in the spectacular grounds of Rugby School, known as the ‘home of rugby’. The tournament involved 16 mixed teams form throughout the rail industry, each competing for the title of ‘Rail Industry Touch Rugby Champion’. Despite the high levels of competitiveness and fun the day was a chance to raise funds for the vulnerable children across the UK, India and East Africa.

All in all it was a fantastic day for everyone. The sun was shining and the squad were looking great in their new ‘Fission Falcons’ kit courtesy of Rail Safety WeekThe team performed admirably throughout the day but only managed to finish 3rd from bottom. Special mentions goes to recruitment consultant Sam Shaw who gained top try scorer on the day.

On behalf of Fission we would like to thank both Railway Children and Network Rail for organising the day, it was a perfect opportunity for team building, networking with other members throughout the Rail Industry and to raise money for such a great cause. We’re extremely excited to enter a team for next years competition and look to build on this years performance.
